The Sea of Cortez features breathtaking scenery and natural beauty. Arid desert landscapes, rugged mountain ranges, and sunny beaches surround the landscape. The Sea of Cortez is often called the "Aquarium of the World" due to its rich and diverse marine ecosystem. You can encounter various sea creatures, including whales, dolphins, sea lions, and numerous fish species. The area is also home to a wide range of seabird species, including the frigatebird, brown pelican, and blue-footed booby. Birdwatchers will find the region fascinating and will greatly appreciate the expert knowledge of our trip leader, Kim Sullivan, an avid knitter who dedicated her life's work to ornithology.

This unforgettable cruising area has beautiful islands, rock formations, and charming coastal towns. Join fellow knitters and experience Mexican culture and history while exploring local markets, sampling local cuisine, and visiting historical landmarks. The tranquil, isolated beaches and calm waters provide an ideal setting for unwinding and rejuvenating.

While onboard, Galina will focus on techniques in Orenburg lace. She will teach some of her most popular classes, including Continental Knitting, Cast-Ons/Bind-Offs & Grafting, Knitted Lace Embellishments: The Perfect Edge, The Fundamentals of Orenburg Knitted Lace and the Cashmere Lace Scarf Project.

• Visit Apricot Yarns, located at a converted military base in San Diego, which also has many art and weaving studios, quaint shops, and a fabulous food court.

• Learn about the animals that call "world's aquarium" home while cruising the Sea of Cortez with ornithologist and retired professor of biology Kim Sullivan.


• In Cabo San Lucas, visit the iconic rock formation at Land's End, El Arco, by taking a boat tour, allowing everyone to spot seabirds and marine wildlife.


• Take in the natural beauty of Pichilingue, the gateway to La Paz.


• Enjoy wildlife observation while learning about the rich marine biodiversity of the Baja region.


• Enjoy the historic and picturesque town of Loreto, where visitors can learn about the "First Capital of the Californias," founded in 1697.


• In Loreto, tour Misión Nuestra Señora de Loreto Conchó, one of the oldest Spanish missions in Baja California. This mission is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and an important historical and architectural landmark.


• In addition to the mission, Loreto has a quaint historic town center with colorful buildings, art galleries, and shops where you can find local crafts and souvenirs.


• The waters off the coast of Loreto are known for their rich marine life. The Loreto Bay National Park is a protected marine area that attracts snorkelers to explore the diverse underwater ecosystems, including sea lions, dolphins, and various fish species.


• In Mazatlan, savor traditional Sinaloan cuisine, which includes dishes like aguachile (a spicy shrimp ceviche), ceviche de sierra (mackerel ceviche), and seafood in various preparations.


• Head to the beach or jungle in Puerto Vallarta. Puerto Vallarta has numerous stunning beaches, including Playa Los Muertos, Playa de Oro, and Conchas Chinas Beach.
